Investors and companies are no longer satisfied with simply having a presence in China. More than ever, success in China is measured by profitability, market leadership, and innovation. If you are interested in how to achieve these goals, then you have come to the right place.

Welcome to the 2006 Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association (HYSTA) Annual Conference. The HYSTA Annual Conference is the premier venue for you to network, learn and exchange ideas about doing business between US and China.

This year’s theme, “Leadership and Innovation,” reflects China’s continued maturity as a mainstream market. Leadership and innovation are the drivers of profitability. Leaders are needed for companies to successfully execute global strategies at the local level. Innovation, either technical or in business processes, is also essential to maintaining a successful global enterprise.

This goal of this Conference is to help investors, companies and professionals understand and implement the principles of leadership and innovation. It will examine immutable qualities, values like integrity and hard work, which are equally important in Beijing or in Palo Alto. It will also delve into the skills required for multi-cultural markets and how to avoid the potential pitfalls.

The transition to a new market requires more than just language skills and product localization. Despite being born and raised in China, I face the learning curve when I do business with China regardless it is a start-up environment or in a Fortune 200 company. This cultural vertigo is similar to the experience of Chinese professionals or companies now in the U.S.

There are pioneers that are making this transition through a successful marriage of corporate strengths with local talents. We are delighted to present a roster of distinguished speakers, the business and thought leaders accomplishing this task today.

I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our sponsors and volunteers, without whom this event would not be possible.

Enjoy the conference!
